Good to Know

The GenieMaster GM3T also works with older Genie openers that use 9 or 12 code (dip) switches; this remote does not. It is for Genie Intellicode openers only. For an older IntelliCode 1 opener, switch a button to IntelliCode 1 first (see the setup steps)
Key names, layout and the look of the case may differ from the original. Compare your original's buttons before ordering.

Setup / Pairing

Insert the battery, which is not included. Stand at least 5 feet from the opener while programming.
Genie states that an opener whose serial number begins with 10 or higher uses IntelliCode 2, which is the remote's default. For an older IntelliCode 1 opener, switch a button first: choose a button not yet programmed to this opener and hold it for 10 seconds until the red and green LEDs both come on and stay on; press the same button twice to toggle from IntelliCode 2 to IntelliCode 1, then press it once more to confirm. The LED shows red for IntelliCode 1 and green for IntelliCode 2.
Put the opener into programming mode. On a current Genie opener, press and hold the program button until the round LED turns blue, then release it; the round LED goes out and the long LED flashes purple. On an opener or external receiver made between 1995 and 2011, locate the Learn Code button and press and release it once; the red LED flashes.
Within about 30 seconds, slowly press and release the remote button of your choice two times. The opener LEDs flash and go off.
Press and release the same button a third time. The door opens or closes. If the LEDs do not go off, press the button several more times to confirm.
For openers made between 1995 and 1997, use one of the two upper buttons on the remote; for openers made after 1997, any button works.
Keep the garage door clear of people and objects while programming and testing.
